Patent settlements can bring generics to market sooner

In response to a study released by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Generic Pharmaceutical Association (GPhA) said patent settlements between brand and generic pharmaceutical companies can benefit consumers by bringing affordable medicines to market sooner. The FTC study and patent settlements were the topic of a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. "We look forward to working with Congress as it continues to examine this issue, along with obstacles to market entry for generics. We share many of Congress' concerns about ensuring that generics reach consumers in a timely manner," said GPhA President and CEO Kathleen Jaeger. ...
