Nation's Medical Specialists Applaud House Action to Establish Clear and Valid Approach to Physician Reporting on Quality Measures

The Alliance of Specialty Medicine and the 200,000 medical specialists it represents today applauded Rep. Bart Gordon (D-TN) and Rep. John Shadegg (R-AZ) for introducing the Voluntary Medicare Quality Reporting Act of 2007 (H.R. 2749 and S. 1519) in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Senate companion bill (S. 1519) was introduced by Sen. Benjamin Cardin (D-MD) and Sen. Arlen Spector (R-PA).

Saying that physicians are firmly committed to improving quality of care for their patients and to reporting on quality measures, leaders of the Alliance said this legislation would address concerns raised by physicians about the lack of a clear process and the need for analysis...
