State agency moving after breast cancer cases found

A North Dakota Department of Human Services regional center intends to vacate its leased office space this fall, after a disease specialist reported an unusually high number of breast cancer cases among female workers there.

Six breast cancer cases were reported during a 3-year period among workers who replied to questions about their health, said Stephen Pickard, MD, a state Health Department epidemiologist. His report says one breast cancer case could normally be expected during the time frame.
