Surgery center owner and operator acquires two centers in Alabama

Symbion, Inc. (SMBI), an owner and operator of surgery centers, has acquired majority interests in two surgery centers in Alabama, effective November 1, 2004. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Birmingham Endoscopy Center, located in Birmingham, is a 10,300 square foot, three-operating room facility.

North River Surgical Center, located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is a 5,500 square foot, two-operating room, multispecialty center.

Symbion, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, owns and operates a network of surgery centers in 21 states that provide nonemergency surgical procedures across many specialties.
