Research from Italy, the United States and Germany add new data to eating disorders body of knowledge

New findings from Italy, the United States and Germany describe advances in eating disorders.

Study 1: The action of free fatty acids in patients with anorexia nervosa was recently studied in Italy.

According to scientists at the University of Turin, "Free fatty acids (FFAs) exert a stimulatory effect on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis in animals and inhibit spontaneous ACTH and cortisol secretion in humans. Patients with anorexia nervosa display concomitant HPA axis hyperactivity and increased lipolysis."
