Every 60 seconds someone tries to commit suicide in the U.S. Every week nearly 630 Americans will take their own life and another 16,000 will attempt to do so, according to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the U.S., followed by hypertension and chronic liver disease. Suicide is an especially important issue for the 155 million women living in the United States. In fact, three times as many females as males attempt suicide.
