Reports add new data to stroke research

Data on stroke are outlined in reports from Germany, Japan and the United States. Study 1: Oral atorvastatin treatment has long-term protective effects in an in vivo stroke model. "Statins exert beneficial effects in brain diseases including stroke," according to researchers in Germany, who "investigated whether oral prophylactic atorvastatin provides long-term neuroprotection and functional recovery in permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (pMCAO), and whether cerebral hemodynamics are affected."
