Nearly 30% of initial diagnoses with CT head scans later revised

Nearly 30% of patients diagnosed with acute ischemic stroke through computed tomography (CT) are ultimately diagnosed with something else.

"Assessment of possible hemorrhage in acute stroke before appropriate therapy remains important," according to neurologists in the United States, who conducted a study "to determine the frequency with which patients present with clinical stroke and have intracranial hemorrhage on initial noncontrast head CT scan (NCCT)."
