Brandeis biologist wins top award in neuroscience



December 17th, 2005

Brandeis University biology professor Eve Marder has won the Ralph W. Gerard Prize in Neuroscience for her outstanding contributions to neuroscience.

The prestigious award is given annually by the Society for Neuroscience, the leading academic society in the field in one of the fastest growing areas in biology.

"It's a great honor," said Marder, an internationally known neuroscientist whose work over the last 3 decades has helped shape and advance the field through research into neural networks in lobsters and crabs and the application of computational methods to elucidate the function of neural circuits.
