Increased risk for SMI is linked to autonomic neuropathy and cardiovascular risk factors

Type 1 and type 2 diabetic patients with autonomic neuropathy and other cardiovascular risk factors are at increased risk for silent myocardial ischemia. "The prevalence of silent myocardial ischemia (SMI) seems to be above average in diabetic subjects. As routine screening is costly, identifying high-risk populations is mandatory.
