Improving patient adherence integral to expanding antipsychotic market

The introduction of new antipsychotic drug formulations is likely to improve compliance rates among the mentally ill by providing patients with additional treatment options.

Currently, lack of medical compliance can be attributed to the adverse side effects of antipsychotics and the supposed social stigma attached with mental illnesses.

There have also been numerous instances of patients who have given up their medication due to the false belief that they have been cured and are therefore fit to resume normal life.
