Universal Health reports $60.3 million Q2 2006 net income, down from $158.8 million in Q2 2005

Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) reported net income of $60.3 million during the second quarter of 2006 as compared to $158.8 million during the comparable prior year quarter. Reported net income was $111.3 million during the 6 months ended June 30, 2006 as compared to $220.3 million during the comparable prior year 6-month period. Included in reported net income during the 2005 periods were after-tax gains of $120.7 million, or $1.89 per diluted share, during the 3-month period ended June 30, 2005 and $126.5 million, or $1.97 per diluted share, during the 6-month period ended June 30, 2005.
