Antigen-Targeted Therapy Uses scFv Fusion Proteins

Tumor cell targeting of immune effector molecules can be accomplished with tumor associated antigen specific single chain antibody (scFv) fusion proteins, reported researchers from England.

"Expression of the cell-surface oncofetal antigen, 5T4, is strongly associated with a wide spectrum of human cancers and is an excellent putative target for tumor-antigen targeted immunotherapy," wrote K. A. Myers and colleagues from Oxford BioMedica Ltd., and Paterson Institute for Cancer Research, England. "We have constructed a scFv derived from a monoclonal antibody specific for 5T4."
