E5 Murine Monoclonal Antiendotoxin Antibody Treatment on Trial

Researchers from the United States evaluated E5 murine monoclonal antiendotoxin antibody for the treatment of gram-negative sepsis in a randomized controlled trial.

"Context, knowledge, and understanding of gram-negative sepsis have grown over the past 20 years, but the ability to treat severe sepsis successfully has not," wrote D.C. Angus and colleagues, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Angus et al. published their study in the Journal of the American Medical Association ("E5 murine monoclonal antiendotoxin antibody in gram-negative sepsis - A randomized controlled trial," JAMA, 2000;283(13):1723-1730).
