Impairment of Object and Action Naming in AD

Both conceptual and lexical retrieval systems for objects, but only conceptual systems for actions, are impaired during the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease, according to a recent study.

D. Williamson et al. administered measures of object naming and action naming to matched groups of 10 patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and 10 normal, control subjects ("Object and Action Naming in Alzheimer's Disease," Cortex, 1998;34(4):601-610).
