New York minority advocates, legislators condemn proposed preferred drug program

The Hispanic Federation, in collaboration with assembly members Peter Rivera and Adriano Espaillat, were joined by a national advocacy organization representing African American physicians at a press conference in Albany to condemn plans to implement a "preferred drug program" for the state's Medicaid recipients.

Citing concerns that such a program would increase health disparities by targeting the state's poorest and sickest patients, participants urged lawmakers to strip the "preferred drug program" from the state's budget.
