Company will use award to develop techniques for prenatal cardiac surgery

Verimetra, Inc., a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based manufacturer of microelectromechanical (MEMS)-based sensors for surgical instruments, has been awarded funding from The Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, through its Collaborative Research Fund.

Verimetra received its award to develop technologies and surgical techniques that will make it possible for surgeons to perform delicate and complex cardiac procedures on a fetus while still in the mother's womb.
