CGH-array analysis enhances detection of fetal chromosome aberrations

Emory University geneticists recommend the use of comparative genomic hybridization (CGH)-array analysis to determine genetic causes of miscarriage, citing its advantages over G-banded chromosome analysis.

According to A.J. Schaeffer and colleagues, miscarriage ends 10-15% of all clinically recognized pregnancies and usually occurs in the first trimester.

"Approximately 50% of first-trimester miscarriages result from fetal chromosome abnormalities," they said.
