"Clomiphene citrate, a selective estrogen receptor modulator, increases estradiol levels and consequently may increase risk of cancer of the uterine corpus," explained M.D. Althuis, of the U.S. National Cancer Institute, and colleagues.
They "conducted a retrospective cohort study of 8,431 U.S. women (145,876 woman-years) evaluated for infertility during 1965-1988. Through 1999, 39 uterine cancers were ascertained by questionnaire or cancer and death registries. Poisson regression estimated adjusted rate ratios."
