Simvastatin lowers factors associated with heart attack in type 2 diabetic patients

Essig, MS, ELS, senior medical writer - Type 2 diabetic patients who received the 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor simvastatin experienced significant decreases in levels of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, according to a report in the Journal of Diabetes and its Complications.
