Weight loss lowers VLDL-TG secretion rate by making nonsystemic fatty acids less available

In women with abdominal obesity, weight loss lowered VLDL-triglyceride secretion rates by making nonsystemic fatty acids less available, a small study showed.

B. Mittendorfer and colleagues at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, studied "the effects of obesity and weight loss on lipoprotein kinetics ... in six lean women [body mass index (BMI): 21 ± 1 kg/m2] and seven women with abdominal obesity (BMI: 36 ± 1 kg/m2)."
