According to recent research published in the journal Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, "IL-6 expression in skeletal muscle is stimulated by contractions. We sought to examine whether hyperinsulinemia increases IL-6 mRNA in skeletal muscle and whether any increase is modified in insulin resistant muscle.
