Obesity, diabetes most underfunded areas of children's research, survey shows

Obesity, diabetes, and cardiology are the most underfunded areas of research, according to a new survey of 76 researchers at more than 60 of the premier children's hospitals in the U.S.

Released June 24, 2003, by the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI), the survey, "Priorities, Predictions & Preferences," examines funding priorities, expected medical breakthroughs, and other issues of importance to the future of children's health.

Highlights include:
