Disparity in survival rates is widening in an equal access healthcare system

Racial differences in breast cancer survival rates have worsened since 1980, but the disparity cannot be attributed entirely to inequalities in the healthcare access, according to results of a study of women in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) healthcare system.

The findings will be published in the September 1, 2003, print issue of Cancer and became available online July 28, 2003 (www.interscience.wiley.com/cancer).
