One in 10 adults of South Asian origin may have undiagnosed type II diabetes

As many as 1 in 10 apparently healthy adults of South Asian origin living in Britain's inner cities are likely to have type II diabetes according to a new study in the U.K.

Researchers at the School of Pharmacy University, Bradford carried out random screening for early identification of diabetes among adults visiting their local community pharmacies. The screening program covered seven regions in inner city Bradford. Subjects described as 'At Risk' Groups according to guidelines drawn up by Diabetes UK and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain were voluntarily recruited to the study.
