Multidose inhaler offers pulmonary drug delivery

Omron Healthcare Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Omron Corporation, and Nipro Corporation have developed a clinical inhaler for pulmonary drug delivery.

The new inhaler, yet to be named, results from a March 2002 agreement both firms signed to collaborate in product development, sales, and marketing.

Omron Healthcare and Nipro are seeking business alliances with pharmaceutical companies keen to use the new inhaler for pulmonary delivery of their products. Omron Healthcare will oversee production of the inhaler's main unit and Nipro will produce and supply the cartridges to a pharmaceutical partner, or fill the cartridges.
