"It is well known that overweight and obesity are associated with increased morbidity, which translates into increased risk of mortality," researchers in the United States report.
"Two recent studies quantify the number of years of life lost owing to high body mass index, but more research is needed to determine whether weight loss would result in the prevention of early death," said Marie-Pierre St-Onge and Steven B. Heymsfield at Columbia University.
