Cholecystokinin-mediated suppression of feeding involves the brainstem melanocortin system. "Hypothalamic pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC) neurons help regulate long-term energy stores. POMC neurons are also found in the nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS), a region regulating satiety," investigators in the United States report.
