Par Pharmaceutical begins shipment of generic Glucovance tablets

Par Pharmaceutical, Inc., the principal subsidiary of Pharmaceutical Resources, Inc., (PRX), announced that it has commenced shipment of substitutable generic glyburide and metformin hydrochloride (HCl) tablets. Glyburide and metformin HCl is the generic version of Bristol-Myers Squibb Co.'s Glucovance tablets. Glucovance combines these two widely prescribed oral antidiabetic agents in a single pill. Glucovance is used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and has annual U.S. sales of approximately $500 million.
