Low adverse events incidence with sirolimus-eluting coronary stent, study shows

Data presented at the 2004 American Heart Association Scientific Sessions further documented the low incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) and stent thrombosis (blood clots) associated with the CYPHER sirolimus-eluting coronary stent. The overall MACE rate at 6 months for the drug-eluting stent was 3.1% in the 11,920 patients evaluated for the study, including men and women of different ages and ethnicities and with varying health status, including patients with diabetes.
