Magazine spotlights Fairhope, Alaska, teacher's fight against child obesity

With child obesity on the rise in America, a Fairhope Elementary School P.E. teacher is featured in Sports Illustrated for her innovative approach to getting kids to be more active.

The Alaskan, Kristie Andres, a third-grade physical education teacher, has combined recess-style fun with traditional athletic activities to make exercising enjoyable for her students.

"She has totally revolutionized our P.E. program," said Fairhope Elementary principal Terry Beasley.

Andres' program is featured in the November 15 issue of Sports Illustrated as an example of a "creative curriculum," in an article about the growing problem...
