Bis(quercetinato)oxovanadium(IV) conjugate is insulin enhancing
December 6th, 2004
Scientists have synthesized a bis(quercetinato)oxovanadium(IV) conjugate with insulin-enhancing potential. According to recent research published in the journal Bioorganic and Medicinal Chemistry Letters, " An oxovanadium complex of quercetin, exhibits highly potent insulin-enhancing activity in streptozotocin-induced diabetic mice." "It also mimics mitogenic potential of insulin as evaluated by [3H]thymidine uptake assay making an effective, orally active insulin-enhancing agent for the treatment of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes without any noticeable toxic effects," stated Ruchi Shukla and colleagues at Pune University. ...
