Virginia entrepreneur, wife give $44 million for diabetes study

Bill Brehm, 75, is a university alumnus and former U.S. Defense Department official who founded SRA International, an information science company in Fairfax, Virginia. Dee Brehm has type 1, or insulin-dependent, diabetes. The Brehms live in McLean, Virginia.
She was a longtime patient of the late Jerome Conn, MD, former chief of endocrinology at Michigan.
