Study 1: Avandamet is combined metformin-rosiglitazone treatment for insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes.
According to a study from England, "Insulin resistance is a major endocrinopathy underlying the development of hyperglycemia and cardiovascular disease in type 2 diabetes. Metformin (a biguanide) and rosiglitazone (a thiazolidinedione) counter insulin resistance, acting by different cellular mechanisms.
