Study 1: Methylglyoxal, a dicargonyl compound which is increased in diabetes, modifies albumin antioxidant capacity; researchers suggest further study.
According to a study from France, "Oxidative stress seems to play a major role in diabetic vascular complication development. Plasma albumin, via its thiol groups, is the main extracellular antioxidant molecule."
