Low plasma glucose levels associated with lower gestational diabetes incidence

Low plasma glucose levels in pregnant women are associated with lower incidence of gestational diabetes, but also of lower neonatal birth weight, a study by obstetrician/gynecologists in Israel found.

The purpose of the study by A. Weissman and colleagues, Rambam Medical Center, Haifa, was "to estimate and report the incidence and perinatal significance of hypoglycemia during the 100-g oral glucose tolerance test in pregnant women."
