"We have examined the cross-sectional relationship between insulin resistance, the metabolic syndrome, and hemostatic and inflammatory markers. We carried out the study in 2,722 non-diabetic men aged 60-79 years with no history of coronary heart disease or stroke and who were not on warfarin treatment, drawn from general practices in 24 British towns," scientists in England report.
