Age and gender effects found in adipose tissue of subjects at risk for type 2 diabetes

Scientists have found age and gender effects in adipose tissue compartments of subjects at increased risk for type 2 diabetes.

According to a study from Germany, "Quantitative measurement of adipose tissue (AT) compartments in the entire body and of lipids in muscle and liver cells was obtained by means of MRI and MRS. An assessment of age-and gender related differences in AT compartments and determination of cross-correlations between AT compartments was conducted in a heterogeneous cohort at increased risk for metabolic diseases.
