Peripheral TNF-alpha levels are minor factor in nonobese type 2 diabetic insulin resistance

Peripheral levels of TNF-alpha activity are not a major factor in insulin resistance for nonobese type 2 diabetic patients.

According to recent research published in the journal Metabolism - Clinical and Experimental, "The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between insulin resistance and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha) as well as soluble TNF receptors (sTNF-R), body mass index (BMI), leptin, adiponectin, and serum lipid profile including triglycerides in nonobese Japanese patients with type 2 diabetes."
