Obesity negatively impacts health-related utility equally for diabetics and nondiabetics

Although obesity negatively impacts health-related utility, there is no significant difference between obese with and without diabetes.

According to recent research from Wales, "The purpose of this study was to characterize the impact of body mass index (BMI) on health-related utility for patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes and those without diabetes. The study was conducted in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, U.K."

A.J. Lee and colleagues from the Cardiff Research Consortium state, "Health-related utility was measured using the EQ-5D(index). Patients from the Health Outcomes Data Repository (HODaR) were surveyed by postal questionnaire...
