Intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide improved hard exudates, fluorescein leakage, and visual acuity

Intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide appears to reduce hard exudates, decrease fluorescein leakage, and improve visual acuity in patients with diabetes.

In a recently published article, scientists in Tunisia conducted a study "to evaluate the efficacy of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide as treatment for massive macular hard exudates in diabetic patients. The study was a prospective, noncomparative, interventional case series of 12 eyes (12 patients) with massive hard exudates involving the fovea that had no previous focal laser treatment."
