Of its two pro-opiomelanocortin (POMC)-derived ligands, alpha-and beta-MSH, the majority of attention has focused on alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH), partly reflecting the absence of beta-MSH in rodents," investigators in England report.
