Study 1: In type 2 diabetes mellitus patients the metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance are linked to silent coronary artery disease.
According to a study from Italy, "Metabolic syndrome is associated with elevated morbidity and mortality for overt coronary artery disease (CAD). In diabetic patients, CAD is often silent. The relation between metabolic syndrome and silent CAD has never been studied. We investigated whether metabolic syndrome is associated with silent CAD in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus."
