"Diabetic cardiomyopathy is a cardiac disease that arises as a result of the diabetic state, independent of vascular or valvular pathology. It manifests initially as asymptomatic diastolic dysfunction, which progresses to symptomatic heart failure," scientists in Canada report in their discussion.
