First American with diabetes summits Mt. Everest, completes Global Peaks and Poles Challenge

With this achievement, Cross, a 39-year-old father of six from Pittsburgh, sponsored by NovoLog (insulin aspart [rDNA origin] injection), became the first American - and the first in the world with diabetes - to climb the highest mountain on each of the seven continents and trek to the North and South Poles, a multi-year odyssey known as the NovoLog Peaks and Poles Challenge.
