Monocyte CCR2 and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 expression is raised in diabetes mellitus

Monocyte CCR2 and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 expression is increased in patients with diabetes mellitus.

According to a study from Japan, "Increased monocyte recruitment into subendothelial space in atherosclerotic lesions is one of the hallmarks of diabetic angiopathy. The aim of this study was to determine the state of peripheral blood monocytes in diabetes associated with atherosclerosis."
