Fenofibrate seems more effective in reducing chylomicron response in diabetes

Fenofibrate appeared to be more effective than atorvastatin in reducing the chylomicron response in type 2 diabetes patients with hyperlipidaemia.

"Postprandial lipid abnormalities might contribute to the excess of cardiovascular risk typical of type 2 diabetic patients. The study evaluated the effects of atorvastatin (20 mg/d) vs. fenofibrate (200 mg/d) on postprandial lipids in type 2 diabetic patients with mixed hyperlipidaemia," scientists writing in the European Journal of Clinical Investigation report.
