Type 2 diabetes management compromised during holiday season

People with type 2 diabetes may not anticipate the holidays as joyfully as the rest of us. In a recent survey commissioned by the American Association of Diabetes Educators, nearly 1400 Americans with type 2 diabetes identified several diabetes-related emotional triggers for stress that could lead to serious health consequences. These stressors include not being able to eat what others are eating and having their diet monitored by a loved one. In fact, only half (50%) of respondents said their family and friends actually take their diabetes into consideration when planning holiday meals.
