New obesity and diabetes findings from Medical University of Bialystok published

A report, "Increased serum interleukin-18 concentration is associated with hypoadiponectinemia in obesity, independently of insulin resistance," is newly published data in International Journal of Obesity. "Interleukin-18 (IL-18) is a cytokine with proinflammatory and proatherogenic properties, which might be associated with the development of insulin resistance. In contrast, adiponectin, a protein secreted by adipose tissue, might exert insulin-sensitizing and antiatherogenic effects," researchers in Bialystok, Poland report.
