New findings reported from University of Bonn describe advances in obesity and diabetes in children

Data detailed in "Modulation of circulating IGF-I and IGFBP-3 levels by hormonal regulators of energy homeostasis in obese children" have been presented. "Growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) are key factors in the control of somatic growth. Recent work revealed a critical role for the transcription factor STAT5b in GH stimulated IGF-I gene expression," scientists writing in the journal Experimental and Clinical Endocrinology & Diabetes report.
